Last night the stars finally came out of their festive hibernation and hit the red carpet for the 2011 People's Choice Awards.

It was the next generation of style setters who really stole the show. Kristen Stewart, who opted for a show-stopping sequin mini, has, of course, already cemented herself a place on the fashion scene. But we predict that Taylor Swift, wearing a pretty pleated dress by J Mendel, Selena Gomez in a stunning ruffled Irina Shabayeva gown and Malin Akerman who also worked J Mendel, will all be topping best dressed lists before long too.

The actor will be stepping into the shoes that were to be worn by Colin Farrell. Paul Giamatti and Marion Cotillard are already on board the film, which is eyeing a mid-May start in Toronto. Farrell was attached to play the lead but segued to a remake of "Total Recall," which also shoots in the spring.

While a report today claims Pattinson will star in Cosmopolis for edgy director David Cronenberg, I'm told the deal isn't done just yet. In other words, everyone wants it to happen, but they're still in negotiations.

The Playlist:
Based on Don DeLillo‘s book of the same name, the film follows 24 hours in the life of a newly married billionaire Eric Packer (Pattinson) as he cheats on his wife, is pursued by a stalker, gets attacked by a protester and gradually loses his entire fortune over the course of a single day.  The adaptation was penned by Cronenberg himself and cast is currently rounded out by Marion Cotillard who will play Pattinson’s wife and Paul Giamatti as one of the two men stalking the billionaire. Let’s just slow this down for a second: Robert Pattinson and Marion Cotillard are going to play a married couple? Please.

So why has Farrell bailed? Well, with the actor recently signed on to star in the “Total Recall” reboot that is scheduled to go in front of cameras this spring, roughly around the same time as Cronenberg’s film and we figure the bigger paycheck won out.
The current plan is for Pattinson to finish his work on “Twilight: Breaking Dawn” with Bill Condon and move right on over to Cronenberg’s film.

Marion Cotillard and Paul Giamatti have been linked to Cosmopolis in the past as well, but they’re not officially confirmed to join Pattinson in the project.

Hollywoodlife:
Whew! We’ve just got done reading the script for Robert Pattinson’s reported new movie Cosmopolis and it is a doozy! The script is full of sex, suspense, and financial turmoil for Rob’s Eric Packer character. And get this — it all centers around Eric’s desire for a haircut! Yup, Rob’s hair is one of the main characters in his new flick.

Speaking from the Baton Rouge set where both installments of Breaking Dawn are shooting simultaneously, Wyck answered some of the Twi-faithful's more pressing questions.

Q: Where does the story split in half?
A: "We basically want to take the audience through the emotional part of Bella's journey as she becomes a vampire. The first part will cover the wedding, the honeymoon and the birth." The film ends just before she embarks on her supernatural transformation.

Q: The book has three segments, two of which present Bella's point of view and a middle that's devoted to the perspective of her rejected werewolf suitor, Jacob (Taylor Lautner). How is that handled?
A: "The story will break from her and follow Jacob throughout the course of the movie as he struggles with his own dilemma. There is a sense that as Bella and the Cullens (Edward's makeshift vampire clan) deal with her pregnancy, the world is still turning outside with Jacob."

Q: Why was Bill Condon, the Oscar-winning filmmaker best known for his musicals as the screenwriter of 2002's Chicagoand the director of 2006's Dreamgirls, selected as the director of the finale?
A: "These films have the most difficult stuff from a performance standpoint. With his history of directing, I can't think of anyone who would be better at bringing out the best in an actor." Plus, the director, who did the 1995 sequel to Candyman, is a fright-fare enthusiast. "He has an appetite for the genre and a passion for the Twilight books and movies."
